Donna Lam, 61, from West Goshen, Pennsylvania was charged with embezzling almost $170,000 from a company she worked for as its accountant since 2008. Lam was arrested on November 10th, 2020 by the West Chester Police and charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, receiving stolen property, and forgery. Between the years of 2016-2019 Lam made numerous fraudulent cash withdraws, wrote checks forged with the company owners name, and allegedly made unauthorized purchases on credit cards from the company.
In an interview with her attorney, Vincent J. Caputo, Lam admitted to writing checks with the company owner’s signature and making the cash withdraws. Lam admitted to developing a drug habit after her mother’s passing in 2016 which led to the theft from her place of employment.
Lam was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Daniel Maisano on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020 and released on $25,000 unsecured bail. Her Preliminary Hearing took place on November 20th, 2020, also in front of Judge Maisano. Lam now awaits her date at Chester County Court of Common Pleas.
