Have you or a loved one been a victim of institutional abuse?

Glen Mills School has been a placement facility for troubled youths for over the past one hundred and eighty-nine years. Although Glen Mills mission has been to provide the youth with success and opportunities for personal growth, it has strayed far from that goal. According to state records, a minimum of 13 employees have been fired or reprimanded over the past five years, for physical assaults, on the adolescences.

Children have reported to have been slammed and choked by staff members. In July, a juvenile was slapped on the back of the head, lifted off the floor, restrained and choked for pulling his arms into his sweatshirt, because he was too cold. It was the boy’s second day at Glenn Mills School, and he suffers from chronic asthma and drifted in and out of consciousness during the attack. The incident was captured on surveillance videos. Two of the involved staff members, were fired, and are facing charges. The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Human Services is looking into taking additional actions.
