In Pennsylvania, residents are allowed to carry a concealed firearm if they have a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms. To obtain this license, an individual must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Provide a valid government issued identification card with a photograph and physical address listed on it (Preferably a Drivers License or DMV Identification card)
- Pass the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) Background Check, which may include criminal history, mental health history, and residency.
- Pay a state mandated fee of $20
If a resident feels they can meet these requirements, they will then fill out the application for a Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms as provided by their counties Sheriff’s Office. Once completed, they will submit the application to the there respective county Sheriff’s Office, who then has 45 days to approve or deny the permit.
